The fire alarm just sounded here at the high school. One of the Food Lab kitchens got a little smokey and it triggered the fire alarm. Students quickly evacuated the building but are now safely back in class.
Thank you,

Today we celebrated 6 seniors. First Senior is Mackenna Mitchell.
Mackenna will be attending Washburn University to major in nursing. Congratulations Mackenna!!

The Holton High School Winter Royalty Crowning Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, January 6.

The celebration goes down tomorrow during lunch. We're having an ice cream social (with toppings and all!) for performing better than the state average on the State Assessment last year. Great job juniors (they are the group that did so well)!!
Shoutout to all the parents that donated all the toppings and/or their time to help scoop.
Thanks,
Jeremy Truelove, HHS Principal

If you’ve driven Highway 75 north of Holton, you know the stretch — two lanes, steady traffic, hills and curves, and plenty of big trucks. The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is studying what improvements could make that drive safer and more efficient.
KDOT will host a Public Open House
Thursday, November 6
5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Jackson Heights High School Gym
(12719 266th Road, Holton, KS).
This is a come-and-go event where community members can:
View preliminary information about the U.S. 75 Expansion Study, and
Visit with KDOT project staff.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
KDOT is exploring options to improve operations and prioritize safety on U.S. Highway 75 from Holton (Jackson County) north 14 miles to K-20 (Brown County).
The U.S. 75 Expansion Study will evaluate:
Possible expansion to four lanes, and
Interim improvements to the existing two-lane highway, in addition to projects already planned at the K-9 and K-20 intersections.
This study was identified as a high priority during the 2023 Local Consult sessions and was selected for the Development Pipeline in March 2024, allowing for preliminary engineering and analysis.
At this time, the U.S. 75 Expansion project has not been selected for the Construction Pipeline or funded for construction.
LOCAL CONNECTION
Many USD 336 students, parents, and patrons travel this section of Highway 75 regularly to attend league activities, school events, and competitions across northeast Kansas. The open house offers a chance to learn about proposed plans and provide feedback on improvements that could affect regional travel and safety.
