Mike's Hike IX
I will be heading to the Continental Divide Trail in Colorado beginning July 13th. This is the 9th year of a 10-year pilgrimage to hike across the state. Many of you have been generous in the past by pledging a lump sum or by the mile amount. Your support has been greatly appreciated! Monies raised have been used to purchase many forms of electronic media equipment for classrooms, the sanctuary, and the FLC. All this equipment is used to educate and deliver the message of Christ. This year's hike is a 67 mile trek from the Rio Grande Reservoir to Wolf Creek Pass. I would appreciate your continued or first time financial support for this worthwhile project. You may cut out this section of the Outlook and send it to the church office with your pledge amount indicated , or pick up a pledge sheet at the early or late worship services. Thank you!
Mike McManigal

I pledge $__________ cents per mile x 67miles = _____________ TOTAL (due after hike is complete)

I pledge a lump sum of $ ______________ (due after hike is complete)

Make checks payable to EUM. Memo: Mike's Hike

Financial Statements
Your Financial Statement is available to be picked up. The statement will give a record of your giving so far this year and also what you pledged. They are available on the table at Life Journey Service and on the table in the back of the sanctuary for Traditional Service. It will help "save a stamp" if you pick up your statement so it will not need to be mailed.

Going, Going, Gone
The Trustees have been busy with housecleaning of the church. There are tables set up on the east side of the Family Life Center with many miscellaneous items including sheet music and hymnals that will be discarded if not taken. Please feel free to look through the items and take whatever you like. Items remaining after Sunday, July 6th, will be taken to be re-cycled or discarded.

Kansas East Annual Conference Report
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your lay member to the Kansas East Annual Conference, June 4-7, at Baker University. This year's theme was "Just Go", which was the fourth part in the Kansas East Conference Mission of: invite, equip, nurture and send forth. Dr. Myron McCoy, President of Saint Paul School of Theology, asked "What Is Annual Conference"? He said it was one part family reunion, one part business meeting and one part renewal and revival. The part about family reunion was evident as attendees met and renewed friendships.
Most of the business meeting dealt with the issues of health insurance and the 2009 budget. The issue regarding health insurance was whether to stay with their current health plan or to switch to a higher deductible Humana Plan. The latter plan was adopted, and it is hoped that the new plan will be satisfactory to it's members while saving the conference some money.
The 2009 budget is an approximate 3% increase over the 2008 budget.
The music and videos shown during conference were both uplifting and reaffirming.
At annual conference we celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the merger of the United Brethren Church with the Methodist church (1968), the 100th Anniversary of the United Methodist Men and the 150th Anniversary of Baker University.
If you have any questions regarding "specifics" about the conference, I would be happy to address them. Just ask me.
Becky Hutchins
