Animal Control’s Mission Protecting the health and safety of the community from dangers and nuisances caused by stray and or threatening animals, and to ensure the proper care and safety of animals. |
|
The Animal Control Division is charged with providing safe and humane methods of capturing and containing domesticated and wild animals in need of treatment or detention. The Animal Control Division also enforces Holton municipal codes on the housing and care of animals, and ensures that animals and their remains do not pose a health or safety hazard to city residents. The enforcement activities include detention of stray domesticated animals, live trapping nuisance cats and wild animals such as raccoons, and investigating animal cruelty or violations of dangerous animal laws, and removing animal carcasses from city rights-of-way. |
